Midyear Momentum – When Life Knocks You Off Track

Jul 25, 2025

We don’t talk about this part of the year enough.

EOFY wraps, and while some people are firing into new goals and strategic plans, others are sitting in the thick of exhaustion — wondering how they’re meant to keep moving when life keeps piling on.

And this month? I’ve been right there with you.

Grief found its way into my world recently. Personal loss, family demands, and the quiet emotional weight of co-parenting have all been knocking loudly on the door — right when I was supposed to be leading workshops, finalising BAS, and rolling into a brand-new financial year full of momentum.

But instead of pushing through with false energy, I paused.

Because here’s the truth:

Life doesn’t stop just because you run a business.

It’s not always about grinding or “powering through.”
Sometimes, real strength is found in breathing, adjusting, and letting yourself off the hook.

What To Do When You’ve Been Knocked Off Track

If this season has felt heavy or disconnected for you, here are a few small ways you can reconnect without overwhelming yourself:

1. Check one report

Open Xero and look at just one thing — your Profit & Loss, a budget tracker, your cash flow. You don’t have to fix everything today, but a gentle check-in creates awareness.

2. Reconnect with your WHY

Why did you start this business? What did you hope it would bring into your life — time, freedom, passion, purpose? Write it down. Say it out loud. Let it guide your next step.

3. Make one small move

Reconcile a few transactions. Call your BAS agent. Organise your receipts. Or book a Discovery Session with someone who can help make it all feel lighter.
(And yes — we’re here for that if you need!)

Midyear Doesn’t Mean You’ve Failed

So many people think that if they’ve “lost the momentum” by July, they’ve failed their year.

But the truth is — this is the moment to reset.

You’re not behind.
You’re human.
And your business needs you whole, not burnt out.

From the Podcast: Midyear Momentum – When Life Knocks You Off Track

This month’s podcast episode is one of the rawest I’ve recorded yet.

I talk about what it’s really like trying to run a business while dealing with grief, co-parenting challenges, and the unspoken guilt that can creep in when you’re not “performing at your best.”

If you need a reminder that you’re not alone — tune in.

Final Thought

If you’re struggling this month, I want you to hear this clearly:

“You won’t always be motivated — so be kind to yourself while you reset.”

You’ve come this far for a reason. Keep going — but go gently.
